International Cooperation Committee: This committee works to promote collaborative programs within ILSI and among the branches by coordinating related research committees, as well as with international organizations such as the Codex Alimentarius Commission, WHO and FAO. The committee helped sponsor a meeting of the FAO/WHO symposium on Biotechnology and Food Safety, held just before the first meeting of the Codex Task Force on Food Derived from Genetically Modified Engineering. The committee also provides ILSI input on specific scientific issues to the Japanese delegation to Codex Committee meetings. As well, ILSI Japan representatives participated in the Codex meeting on Task Force for GM Foods, the Codex Committee on Food Additives and Contaminants, and the meeting of FAO Regional Conference for Asia and the Pacific.
