ILSI has published several major publications, including the eighth edition of Present Knowledge in Nutrition. This landmark reference and text on nutrition science has been in continuous publication since 1953 and over the years, various editions have been translated into Spanish, Japanese, Italian, Korean, and Chinese. The eighth edition, edited by Dr. Barbara Bowman and Dr. Robert Russell, surveys the scope of current nutrient science. Research scientists, dieticians, clinical nutritionists, students, and others have come to rely on Present Knowledge in Nutrition for easily accessible dependable, up-to-date, reviews on energy needs, macronutrient and micronutrients requirements, nutrition-disease correlations, nutrition needs throughout the life cycle, food compositions, other topics.
Other recent titles include Microbial Pathogens and Disinfection By-Products in Drinking Water: Health Effects and Management of Risks, a compilation a papers presented at the Second International Conference on the Safety of Water Disinfection: Balancing Chemical and Microbial Risk, which was held amid heightened public concern about microbial safety of food and water.
New titles for 2003 include: The Nation's Nutrition, an authoritative text, edited by Dr. Eileen Kennedy and Dr. Richard Decklebaum, that outlines the scientific evidence base that underlies the nutrition policies and programs in to the United States; and Direct Dosing of Pre-weaning Baby Mammals in Toxicity Testing, a state-of-the-art text that offers guidance on how to undertake a direct dosing laboratory study on pre-weaning mammals.
